The Swarm Initiative

We Don’t Just Manage Waste — We Unlock Opportunity

The SWARM Initiative is a bold, pan-African movement reimagining waste as a force for transformation. At the intersection of climate, unemployment, and urban resilience, we empower youth, communities, and businesses to turn waste into wealth — through data, training, and circular innovation.

Africa generates over 125 million tonnes of waste each year, yet less than 10% is formally recycled. In Kenya alone, over 22,000 tonnes of daily waste often ends up burned, dumped, or mismanaged. Meanwhile, more than 800,000 young people enter Kenya’s job market annually — yet most face limited opportunity, with youth underemployment soaring to 67%. This isn’t just a crisis. It’s a call to build something better.

Our solution is systemic. Through our flagship programs — ABYT Network and TAKA-EX — we design and deploy circular economy systems that are smart, inclusive, and regenerative. We integrate AI-powered tracking, community-driven infrastructure, and formal buyer networks to make waste profitable for those who need it most.

We train youth and communities in composting, recycling, and biofeedstock recovery. We track every kilogram of waste using digital tools for transparency and climate accountability. And we transform waste into income by linking it to verified markets — turning banana peels into fertilizer, plastics into pay, and discarded resources into livelihoods.

We Train. We Track. We Transform

Join us in turning waste into wealth — for people, planet, and progress.
